Felixstowe Museum Heritage Open Day – Free Entry

Explore Felixstowe Museum’s Unique Heritage – Free for One Day Only
On 20th September, Felixstowe Museum invites you to step inside the last remaining purpose-built Submarine mining building in the country. As part of this year’s national Heritage Open Days festival—celebrating the theme of buildings—our doors will be open completely free for one day only.
Discover Fourteen Rooms of Exhibitions
Wander through fourteen rooms showcasing both permanent treasures and ever-changing temporary displays.
Highlights include:
- The brand-new Beside the Seaside gallery, exploring coastal life and local beach culture
- Industrial artefacts and interactive exhibits that bring our building’s past to life
- A special selection of freshly baked cakes and refreshments to enjoy between galleries in our café.
Hands-On Sustainable Textiles Workshop
Clare Sams, Suffolk Libraries’ first ever Environmentalist in Residence, will lead a sustainable textile workshop. You’ll learn eco-friendly techniques for upcycling fabric and creating your own stylish pieces—no experience required.
Bring friends and family, explore our exhibitions, indulge in cake, and pick up green crafting skills—all for free. We can’t wait to welcome you!
