Landguard Fort is ideal for family visits and we strive to make visitors of all ages feel most welcome and cared for.
Our Tea Room is on ground level and its offer includes family-friendly drinks and snacks.
Space inside the 1940s Tea Room is a little limited especially at busy times, which can be where our outdoor spaces come into their element.
If the weather is not being so kind, there is an additional cosy indoor space for families and groups accessible on ground level – with the bonus of an absorbing film show about the fort and its fascinating history to enjoy too!
The 1940s-themed Tea Room is on ground level, with ramps available to support wheelchair access into the facility.
Please note that as Landguard Fort is a Grade 1 listed historic building. Inside the Fort, pathways and surfaces include gravel, grass, concrete and asphalt. Access to the ground floor levels of the Fort is possible for those using wheelchairs. Assistance may be required with entry to a few rooms where ramps have not yet been fitted to the threshold.
We ask all our visitors to take special care when accessing areas of the site.
Current toilet facilities at the fort are located outside of, but close to the café, in the Outer Parade area.
As a Grade 1 listed heritage asset, Landguard Fort finds itself operating within certain limitations of the historic building. For this reason there are no permanent toilets located within the fort building – current facilities take the form of temporary ‘portable toilets’ including an accessible toilet.
Thank you for your understanding.
