Felixstowe Museum Tea Room

Beehive Café – Felixstowe Museum, Landguard

Locals and visitors alike love Felixstowe Museum’s volunteer-run Beehive Café – a bright and bee-autiful tearoom space that’s tucked away in the historic Victorian surroundings of the Ravelin Block. Open to non-museum visitors alike as well as those enjoying time within the museum, the Beehive Café also has outdoor seating and serves tasty snacks and delicious cakes as well as refreshing hot and cold drinks. Both the Café and Museum shop (located in the Café) feature work and gifts by local artists.

Open to everyone – not just museum visitors!

Please note that the Beehive Café shares opening times with the Museum.

OPENING TIMES

No, the Beehive Café tearoom at Felixstowe Museum Landguard is open to the general public – no Museum entry ticket is required.

The pleasant Café room shares a space with the Museum gift shop and is located just inside the Museum entrance.

Our menu comprises of sweet and savoury snacks and hot and cold drinks only.

We regret that we are currently unable to offer hot food on the Beehive Café menu and are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

The building is hugely historic and we have regulations to comply with which sometimes have a disappointing impact on our offer. Thank you for your understanding.

Yes, there are bench-tables located in front of the Museum by the grassed area with views of the Ravelin Block and looking towards the View Point and Port of Felixstowe.

Yes. The range of snacks, cakes and drinks is available to eat in or takeaway.

We support the use of reusable cups for takeaway drinks, so please bring yours with you if you can.

If you have takeaway food or beverages from the Café, please ensure that you dispose of your litter responsibly  – thank you.

Everyone loves an ice-cream and we do try to keep them in stock throughout the summer!

Yes indeed – well-behaved dogs are most welcome in Felixstowe Museum and its Café.

Patrons are welcome sit inside or out with their four-legged friends.

Water bowls for dogs are provided (outside the building).

Absolutely.

Our range of sweet and savory treats are chosen with friends and families in mind and we do our best to stock a range of cold drinks enjoyed by younger visitors.

Families with buggies or mobility aids can generally be accommodated. Please note that at busy times, it may be necessary to leave pushchairs elsewhere in the Museum – our friendly volunteers will be on hand to advise and help.

We are keen for everyone to have access to and be in a position to enjoy the Felixstowe Museum and its Beehive Café. Our home is an historic building and we provide ramps and alternative routes to avoid steps wherever possible.

Please explain your needs on arrival (or in advance) and our friendly volunteers on duty will be pleased to help.

Unfortunately there are currently no visitor toilets in the museum building which includes The Beehive Café. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Public toilet, disable toilet and baby changing facilities are located nearby at the John Bradfield Viewing Area in the View Point visitor centre café.

Why The Beehive Café?

The Museum Café is named after HMS Beehive – Britain’s most successful wartime base which was located nearby. Inside though, you will soon spot that whilst respecting and sharing all that HMS Beehive represents here at Landguard, we have introduced nods to our name in different ways. You could say, it’s not just when we are busy-busy that there’s a buzz about the place!

Whether you’re bumbling about Landguard for a spot of exercise and fresh air, or enjoying taking in all the Museum exhibits, the Beehive Café is the ideal spot to stop, refresh and relax… and maybe even reflect a while.
