Head to Felixstowe to follow the new waymarked King Charles III England Coast Path from one side of the peninsula to the other. Or why not combine time out by the beach with a directed wander around the hidden architecture gems of the heritage resort?

Walk from resort to port to discover Landguard Felixstowe at the southern-most tip of the Peninsula. It’s the place for a rich helping of military history, and awesome views of the Haven’s big world-travelling cargo ships. Or maybe take the bus down to Landguard Point and drink in the spectacle from the accessible boardwalks of Landguard Nature Reserve or the ever-popular View Point Café?

Walks around the Essex heritage port town of Harwich plus its Victorian resort of Dovercourt, and Suffolk’s Shotley Peninsula are all just a foot ferry ride across the Haven’s River Orwell from Landguard on the Felixstowe Peninsula.

Harwich Harbour Foot and Bicycle Ferry operates a daily timetable (weather permitting).
