Reduce Fire Hazard
No BBQs or Fires
No, fires are not permitted on Landguard Nature Reserve.
Please remember, Landguard Nature Reserve is a specially protected site of historical and ecological importance and due to its sensitivity, fires are not permitted.
This includes the beach and the grassland.
The habitats found here are very dry by nature. Combined with prolonged periods of dry weather, and coastal winds, this makes the site very vulnerable, and the risk of wildfires is greater.
A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) covers the entire site and restricts certain activities that may cause harm or disturbance and this includes fires. PSPO’s are designed to help deal with problems that could cause harm. They impose conditions on the use of an area so that everyone can enjoy it and use it safely.
Please do not light fires or use BBQ’s on site and help keep Landguard safe.
