Radio Day at Felixstowe Museum

Sixty-two years ago, a ship called MV Caroline dropped anchor just five miles off Felixstowe’s coast — and British radio changed forever. On 28 March 1964, Radio Caroline began broadcasting the pop music the BBC wouldn’t play, kick-starting the pirate radio revolution right on our doorstep. The station returned to anchor off Felixstowe again and again throughout the 1960s, cementing the town’s place in radio history — a legacy still marked today by the commemorative plaque in Wolsey Gardens.

Join us on Saturday 15 August, 11am–4pm, as Felixstowe Museum celebrates that story with a Radio Caroline Day. Meet Radio Caroline presenters, explore the Moggy Van Radio Collection, and browse a fascinating display of vintage radios and offshore radio memorabilia.
